Lighting the Way: Perspectives on LEDs and the Global Lighting Market
Dominik Wee & Arthur Jaunich
LED Competence Center, McKinsey & Company,
While the advantages of LED technology and its future market potential are undisputed, current LED penetration uptake in general lighting remains low, with significant variation between applications, geographies, and customer segments. Additionally, high uncertainty remains around the speed and intensity of future penetration uptake.
McKinsey has launched a comprehensive global LED survey with lighting professionals and consumers, in order to better understand at a granular level the key drivers and road blocks of LED penetration uptake across all areas of general lighting.
Our conference presentation will present key findings from this survey and dispel several myths and common beliefs that fuel and are fueled by the uncertainty surrounding LED. Based on that, it will derive key implications for stakeholders in the lighting industry.
